The game was tied at 54 and less than five minutes remained on the clock in the second half, when the Tigers made their move. Scoring the final 11 points of the game, Tarik Black scored five straight points to give Memphis the lead at 59-54. Christian Brothers was unable to mount another attack and missed their last five shots.
The Tigers trailed most of the first half, that included being down by two, 28-26 at the half. This was in part because of nine turnovers by the Tigers.
Memphis came out in the second half and played much better. The rhythm of the game seemed to be better and the Tigers took their first lead with a three-pointer from Adonis Thomas. Thomas and Chris Crawford were pulled from the starting lineup of the game after being late for a team film session Tuesday night. However, both were in the starting lineup for the second half.
The Tigers built an 11 point lead midway through the second half, but with 7:26 left on the clock CBU had cut the lead to 54-49. This was due to tremendous three-point shooting by CBU, making 10 on the night. It was then that the Tigers took control of the game closing with the 11-0 run and sealing the game.
Memphis will open the 2012-13 season, Monday when the Tigers host North Florida at 6:30 p.m. at the FedEx Forum.
